Welcome, my name is Lyle Kirkham and I am currently studying a masters (MSc) in Sport and Exercise Psychology having graduated with 1st class honours in 2016.

I am also the proud UK ambassador for Advanced Mental Coaching UK, Please access the AMC UK page to find out more.

My specific interests involve practically applying theories in the field rather than in labs, this is just personal preference. I especially enjoy researching performance under pressurised situations and what happens to the body and our mind under pressure, because 'sport is mental!' and we are always searching to be better, sport psychology has an impact and I want you to know this.

I set this page up to help consolidate the information I learnt throughout my undergraduate degree. Now my mission is to take this page to the next level, bringing you up to date going's on in the world of sport psychology in both theory and practise.

One misconception about psychology is it's complexity and the use of 'big words and sentences' which confuse people. In sport psychology the majority of things we teach you can already do, self-talk, imagery, stress perception, anxiety, motivation, goal setting and confidence however we don't know how to use it efficiently or to our benefit,  that's where we come in.

"You are the power, we are giving you the tools for control" Mario Beky

You will also become aware that I am sucker for a good quote, you can blame my supervisor for that.

Finally i'd like to welcome you to this page, hopefully you'll find it useful.

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. Albert Einstein

“I never left the field saying I could have done more to get ready and that gives me piece of mind.” Peyton Manning
